The common Western psychological belief that the human psyche lies discreetly within the individual personality, clearly contributes to the sense of isolation and separation we endure. This mistaken independence from the rest of nature leads to suffering and disease. We are quite literally poisoning our minds and bodies. Separating the human psyche from the pattern which connects all life, and elevating it to a superior status, is understood by Ecopsychologists as the root cause of habits of the mind and body. We feel empty and isolated and want to fill the empty space inside with "stuff," but the "stuff" never seems to be enough.

Based on the understanding that human nature cannot be separated from external nature, ecotherapy understands that we suffer right along with the dying species, the logged forests and the polluted streams.

Located in Anderson Valley in Boonville with easy access to the rivers, redwoods and Pacific Ocean in the region, EcoRoots, is many things. First and foremost it is an ecotherapeutic practice, with psychotherapy, coaching, wilderness guiding, and trainings. When appropriate, sessions are conducted outdoors and when not, clients sometimes find themselves with outdoor assignments between sessions. Some health insurances are accepted.
